Black Swans and broods

Tuesday 28 th  December and Wednesday 30 December 2021 A couple of late morning bike ride circuits of the lake on these two days revealed the continued presence of cob  BLB  and  CCL  with two l size cygnets using the general area of shoreline of JKMP across the lower section of the lake to as far as the shoreline at Gummiuk. There appears to be no brood any longer at Bargang (pen  BLC  and cob  BLD  with four fully grown cygnets last seen here earlier in October).  Occupying the eastern arm S of the Ginninderra Freeway bridge, but not coming S towards JKMP, is the family party of cob  BJU  and pen  BNY  and their lone l size cygnet. Black Swans BJU and BNY with cygnet

Tuesday 14 December 2021   At about 4:00pm the family party of BJU + BNY + a mid-sized cygnet on the eastern arm of L. Ginninderra. This time  BJU came in close to investigate Yori but later crossed to the western side because a swan flew in and BJU saw it off involving a threatening swim-off. Arriving swan presumed to be a cob and the same interaction that I have seen several times before occurred. Yesterday and today only 4 swans seen a pair with a well grown cygnet and a lone cob. The hg/l but still downy cygnet of  BJU  and  BNY Eastern side of the East Arm of L. Ginniderra with the family party of  BJU  (left and nearer swan) along with  BNY  and cygnet (in the distance to the right). This is often where I find them.   BJU  (the cob) coming towards me, presumably because of Yori   Band readable on  BJU  (above) and portrait of this cob (below)
