 Short walk in the mid afternoon with Yori. Black Swan still on nest sitting but before I checked this out an 'on station' bird, probably BJA ( at leat it was a red band on the left leg), came into the lagoon swimming quickly and headed to the shore where ducks are commonly fed. Here, it casually preened but I could not read its band. I then checked out the nest site where a sitting bird was lying low with head down. Could I have come at a post changeover moment and the presumed BJA in the lagoon had a short while before been sitting? If the partner is BNB that swan is unfortunately also banded red on left leg. Additionally, it is a swan that has not been seen for a year and when last see it was paired with BNA –  a pairing first recorded in January 2020.

Much the same story as for two days ago. A dull, chilly and windy afternoon. The Australian Wood Duck family still on the same pond and still 4 s-hg ducklings. Several other AWDs on this pond, mostly in pairs. At least a dozen. Also present, a few Dusky Moorhen and a Little Pied Cormorant resting ashore on allow shrub. A Grey Butcherbird calling nearby up the slope to the S. The unbanded cob (presumed) Black Swan ashore in the JKMP lagoon or basin. He was here along with other waterbirds being fed. The presumed pen was sitting tight in the cold windy conditions on the nest. One Australian Grebe seen close to the swan on its nest.   At least 30 Red-rumped Parrot feeding on the ground below the dense Casuarinas close to and on the path round the N side of the basin (not far from the bridge to the little island). They have been here often over that past 3-4 weeks. Remarkable in that they pay little attention walkers, bikes or dogs and remain steadfastly feeding
